The best transmission shop with the best staff I took my car in for a transmission issue and Paul came back with two estimates; the minimum and the preferred... which to me is the first sign of integrity and honesty. The cost of the preferred was 2-3k less than my other estimates (one was from the stealer, uh I mean, the dealer) and he was the only one who would listen to me and take the research I conducted on the problem to heart. Now, my cars transmission is perfect and I saved a ton! He even diagnosed some other issues that didn't have anything to do with the tranny and would not financially benefit him at all... but just thought Id like to know. Not only that, but I brought my other car in for an inspection and he gave it to me straight and gave me all the options including an idea of the severity and what I should and shouldn't do to keep the problem from getting worse. He inspected my fluids and topped them off at no charge, and relieved some anxiety about some other issues that were not necessarily a necessity. I have been around mechanical implements my whole life growing up on a farm and working as a mechanic for a short period of time. I know the difference between a shop that is just trying to increase profits and shops that truly want to fix problems and not break your back doing so. Barstow Transmission and Paul are the latter of the two and also have the most important quality you should look for in a mechanic; they truly care about you, your family, and your vehicle. You won't find a better tranny shop anywhere.

Got stuck in Barstow on the way to Vegas with a clutch problem and found these guys. So glad I did! They were in the middle of nowhere, and I got a little nervous driving in. But they turned out to be really great guys, very honest. My problem was just a loose bolt. They found it, tightened it up in 15 min, and sent me on my way, no charge! How awesome is that! And now a month later, no more problems. I wish this place was available to me at home.
